iPad mini 'mini' only in size not in price

Apple inc. launched a 7.9-inch iPad mini that is as thin as a pencil and as light as a pad of paper, Apple threw itself into the market for smaller tablets currently ruled by its rivals.
Its price is higher than expected. Its much higher than Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle Fire HD or Google Inc.'s Nexus 7. The iPad mini starts at $329.

AUTUMN PASQUALE

New Jersey
A teenage boy lured a 12-year-old girl into his house under the guise of getting parts for her treasured bicycle and then, with his older brother, killed her, police said Tuesday. The girl's disappearance had sparked a frantic search by residents of her small town until a tip from the boys' mother led police to her body, stuffed into a home recycling bin.
The boys, ages 15 and 17, were charged with murdering Autumn Pasquale, who disappeared while riding her BMX bike Saturday, a little more than a week before what would have been her 13th birthday.
Both brothers were charged with counts including first-degree murder, body disposal and tampering with evidence. The 15-year-old was also charged with luring.

iPad mini

Apple Inc. is expected to make its biggest product move on Tuesday since introducing the iPad two years ago, launching a smaller, cheaper tablet into a market to give competition to Amazon's Kindle and Google's Nexus 7 .
Apple has invited for an event taking place on October 23 and the event will be live streamed on Apple TV.It states "we've got a little more to show you" -it refers to the iPad mini most probably.
It is speculated that tablet will come in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, with the option of Wi-Fi only and 3G/4G.
It is expected that Apple's new tablet will fall between 7 inches and 8 inches in size. Its price will be crucial to its success.

Presidential debate : USA facts

Current news:
In their final debate before the November 6 U.S. presidential election, President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney battled over foreign policy issues, including the U.S. response to Syria's civil war, Iran's nuclear program, and defense spending.   The 90 minute encounter was Governor Romney's chance to put to rest doubts about his ability to handle foreign affairs challenges, and an opportunity for President Obama to solidify his image as someone better equipped to manage foreign policy and national security issues.  Governor Romney pointed to what he called disturbing events during Mr. Obama's first term in office, including 30,000 dead in Syria, the attack on Americans in Libya, and an Iran four years closer to a nuclear weapon.   Libya and the killing of Americans in Benghazi was discussed, with Mr. Obama repeating his determination to find the killers. The president, Mr. Romney said, has failed to provide a comprehensive strategy to deal with rising Muslim extremism.  "I congratulate him on taking out Osama bin Laden and going after the leadership in al-Qaida, but we can't kill our way out of this mess. We're going to have to put in place a very comprehensive and robust strategy to help the world of Islam and other parts of the world reject this radical, violent extremism," he said.
History:
The first general election presidential debate of USA was held on September 26, 1960, between U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy, the Democratic nominee, and Vice President Richard Nixon, the Republican nominee, in Chicago at the studios of CBS' WBBM-TV.
Rules:
A coin toss determines who gets to answer the first question and each candidate will get alternate turns. Once a question is asked, the candidate has 2 minutes to answer the question. After this, the opposing candidate has around 1 minute to respond and rebut her/is arguments. At the moderator's discretion, the discussion of the question may be extended by 30 seconds per candidate.
In recent debates, colored lights resembling traffic lights have been installed to aide the candidate as to the time left with green indicating 30 seconds, yellow indicating 15 seconds and red indicating only 5 seconds are left. If necessary, a buzzer may be used or a flag.

Google data storage centre

EVER wondered what happens to your Google searches every time you hit the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on the search site's front page?
Google did something unprecedented recently, and took its Street View cameras inside one of its own top-secret data centres.
The huge building in North Carolina is crammed full of thousands of specially made computers.
No piece of data is stored in just one place, everything is doubled up in case of disk failure.
Disks fail a lot, so they have their own disk-destroying machine.Video is on youtube.

Paranormal Activity 4

Paranormal Activity 4 is next installment of American supernatural horror film series. It is directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost. Its writer is Zack Estrin. It is a sequel to Paranormal Activity 2.

Story: Alex (Kathryn Newton) films her younger brother Wyatt's soccer match. At Alex's house, she shows her boyfriend Ben (Matt Shively) the treehouse in the garden. Here they discover Robbie, the neighbor's child. Puzzled as to why he is there, she takes him back to his own house across the street. In the early hours of the next morning, Alex hears an ambulance outside at Robbie's house. That day, Robbie turns up at the house after Alex's mom Holly (Alexondra Lee) offered to look after him for a few days, while Robbie's mother is admitted to hospital. Later on, Alex finds Wyatt and Robbie in her treehouse talking to Robbie's invisible friend.
In the evening Wyatt plays multi-player on the Kinect by himself, while Robbie sits on the sofa. Ben asks who Wyatt is playing with and Robbie answers that it's the invisible friend from the tree house. Ben turns the lights off and shows Wyatt the infra-red tracking dots. As Alex, Ben and Wyatt dance in the dark, Robbie sits on the sofa, where the camera detects an unknown figure moving next to him.
The next day Ben reveals to Alex that his computer automatically records their webcam chats, and in the middle of the night while Alex was sleeping, Robbie came in and slept next to her. Baffled by his odd behavior, Ben offers to install laptops around the house to record any other strange occurrences. Over the next couple of days, the computer records strange events around the house, including Robbie waking up in the middle of the night to talk to the TV, and Robbie and Wyatt chasing the silhouette of a small child figure throughout the house. Robbie draws a strange symbol on Wyatt's back, which Alex later finds to be part of an old cult (first appeared in Paranormal Activity 3).
Late one night Alex notices several black cars outside Robbie's house across the street; upon investigating, she discovers several women in black garb entering the house. She is confronted by one of these women and flees the scene. The next day Alex is home alone, and after hearing noises, follows them to the hallway, where the chandelier falls from the ceiling and smashes into the floor, almost striking her. Although her father Doug (Stephen Dunham) blames the light fitters, Alex is suspicious of Robbie.
The following day, Alex sees Robbie and Wyatt entering Robbie's house across the street. Alex follows them to discover that Robbie's mother Katie (Katie Featherston) is actually home, and shows no sign of illness. Wyatt tells Alex that Katie told him he was adopted, like Robbie. Alex questions her parents about Wyatt's real parents but they refuse to say anything. Later that night, Wyatt begins talking to an invisible figure, insisting that his name isn't Hunter. During this conversation a figure approaches him, but is interrupted when Doug enters the room.
One night during Wyatt's bath, Holly leaves the room to answer the phone, leaving Wyatt in the tub. He is violently pulled underwater by an unseen force, where he remains for a long time. He reemerges moments later, but is unnaturally calm and sedate, thereafter referring to himself as Hunter. That night, he appears in Alex's room, where she levitates off the bed while sleeping.
The next day, Holly is alone, and begins to hear strange noises. A possessed Katie enters the house undetected, and heads upstairs. When Holly enters the lounge an unseen entity suddenly picks her up and violently throws her against the walls, before dropping her on the floor. Katie returns to drag her body away. Ben later arrives to discover no one is home. He goes to view the footage in Alex's bedroom but Katie appears and snaps his neck.
Alex and her father arrive, and he thinks he sees Alex's mother with Wyatt walking to Katie's house. As he goes to explore Alex goes home to discover Ben's body. She runs out of the house and over to Katie's house to warn her dad, but witnesses him being dragged violently through the house by the unseen entity. She runs to a bedroom at the far end of the house but can't find his body. As she turns around to head back out Katie appears who storms forwards, demonically screaming to Alex. Alex quickly runs and climbs out of the window where she discovers Wyatt standing outside. Just as she is about to run away with Wyatt, numerous blank-faced people appear in Katie's garden. Alex turns the other way only to be attacked by a screaming Katie before the camera cuts out.END
A fifth movie of this series is also planned by Paramount Pictures.

Pope Benedict XVI : 265th Pope

Pope Benedict XVI,born as Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger on 16th April 1927 is the 265th Pope. He is a native of Bavaria, and has both German and Vatican citizenship.
As Pope he serves dual roles of being soverign of Vatican City and leader of Catholic Church.
He is regarded as the successor of Saint Peter the Apostle. He was elected on 19 April 2005 in a papal conclave. He took possession of his cathedral, the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, on 7 May 2005.
Benedict XVI is theologically conservative in his teaching and prolific writings defend traditional Catholic doctrine and values. He has advocated a return to fundamental Christian values to counter the increased secularisation of many developed countries.

Kateri Tekakwitha:First native American Saint

POPE Benedict XVI has named seven new saints, including the first Native American saint.
Kateri Tekakwitha, known as "Lily of the Mohawks".For centuries she has been a symbol of hope for the long-oppressed American Indians. She was canonised in a lavish ceremony in St Peter's Square .
The Pope is the Bishop of Rome and he is the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church. Catholic Church, regards him as the successor of Saint Peter, the Apostle. The current office-holder is Pope Benedict XVI, who was elected in a papal conclave on 19 April 2005.
Election process:
The election of the pope takes place in the Sistine Chapel, in a meeting called a "conclave" so called because the cardinal electors are theoretically locked in, cum clave, i.e., with key, until they elect a new pope.
Three cardinals are chosen by lot to collect the votes of absent cardinal electors (by reason of illness), three are chosen by lot to count the votes, and three are chosen by lot to review the count of the votes.
The ballots are distributed and each cardinal elector writes the name of his choice on it and pledges aloud that he is voting for "one whom under God I think ought to be elected" before folding and depositing his vote on a plate atop a large chalice placed on the altar .The plate is then used to drop the ballot into the chalice, making it difficult for electors to insert multiple ballots.
Before being read, the ballots are counted while still folded; if the number of ballots does not match the number of electors, the ballots are burned unopened and a new vote is held. Otherwise, each ballot is read aloud by the presiding Cardinal, who pierces the ballot with a needle and thread, stringing all the ballots together and tying the ends of the thread to ensure accuracy and honesty. Balloting continues until someone is elected by a two-thirds majority.
One of the most prominent aspects of the papal election process is the means by which the results of a ballot are announced to the world. Once the ballots are counted and bound together, they are burned in a special stove erected in the Sistine Chapel, with the smoke escaping through a small chimney visible from St. Peter's Square. The ballots from an unsuccessful vote are burned along with a chemical compound to create black smoke, or fumata nera. When a vote is successful, the ballots are burned alone, sending white smoke or fumata bianca through the chimney and announcing to the world the election of a new pope.
The Dean of the College of Cardinals then asks two solemn questions of the cardinal who has been elected. First he asks, "Do you freely accept your election?" If he replies with the word "Accepto", his reign begins at that instant, not at the inauguration ceremony several days afterward. The Dean then asks, "By what name shall you be called?" The new pope then announces the regnal name he has chosen. (If the Dean is elected pope, the Vice Dean performs this task.)
The new pope is led through the "Door of Tears" to a dressing room where three sets of white papal vestments (immantatio) await: small, medium, and large. Donning the appropriate vestments and reemerging into the Sistine Chapel, the new pope is given the "Fisherman's Ring" by the Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, whom he first either reconfirms or reappoints. The pope then assumes a place of honor as the rest of the cardinals wait in turn to offer their first "obedience" (adoratio) and to receive his blessing.
The Senior Cardinal Deacon then announces from a balcony over St. Peter's Square the following proclamation: Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum! Habemus Papam! ("I announce to you a great joy! We have a pope!"). He then announces the new pope's Christian name along with his newly chosen regnal name.

Orionid Meteor shower

The Orionid meteor shower, usually called Orionids, is associated with Halley's Comet. These are so called because they appear to come from a point called the radiant, which lies in the Orion constellation. Orionids are an annual meteor shower which last for one week in late-October.

The Orionid meteor shower is produced by Halley's Comet, named on astronomer Edmund Halley who calculated its periodicity in 1705.It passes through inner solar system every 76 years. When the comet passes through the solar system, some rock particals break from it due to removal of ice layer of the comet by sun. After the passage of comet, these particles continue on the comet's trajectory and appear as meteors or "falling stars" when they pass through Earth's upper atmosphere.

The Eta Aquariids are other meteor shower which is associated with Halley's Comet. It is visible from mid April to late May every year.It is so named because its
radiant point appears to lie in the constellation Aquarius, near star, Eta Aquarii.

Halley's Comet last appeared in 1986 and will next appear in 2061.

Tagg Romney

Tuesday's second presidential debate was a clash of finger-pointing, interruptions etc.Eldest son of Romney had an especially visceral reaction. Tagg Romney said his instinct was to “jump out of your seat” and “rush down to the debate stage and take a swing’’ at President Obama.
He answered that when a North Carolina radio host, asked him how it felt to hear the president “call your dad a liar.’’
Tagg Romney quickly indicated he wasn’t speaking literally about striking the president.
“You know you can’t do that,’’ he continued, “because, well, first because there’s a lot of Secret Service between you and him, but also because this is the nature of the process. You know, they’re going to do everything they can do to try to make my dad into someone he’s not. We signed up for it. We’ve got to, kind of sit there and take our punches and then send them right back the other way.’’
The younger Romney’s remarks were indicative of how fiercely the campaign is being fought in its closing weeks. Although Tagg Romney, 42, the eldest of the five Romney sons, was reported to have assumed a prominent role in the campaign, even taking part in a family “intervention,” the picture he painted was of a far less significant player.

Interior Designing tips

When it comes to design there are few rules to adhere to. I mean let’s get something straight here, it’s about creative expression and really showing off your true personality. Setting up a list of rules on how you should and shouldn’t design your home is like telling a painter how they should wave their brush strokes. We all do it differently, approach it from all directions but the end result is always magic. So when designing your home, whether you’re a complete novice or fifteen years into the business always live through creativity but keep a few things in mind.
1)Always have flower decorations

 2)Every home should shine

Just like the photo above, all homes and spaces should have some bling. Add sparkle where ever you can. Whether it be chandeliers, candle holders, decorative accessories, any item that reflects light helps lift a room.
3) Add beauty

Simple things in our lives add beauty. It is about honoring your specific lifestyle and the little things that make your house special. It could be an expensive art piece over the fireplace or your five year olds drawing from school. Beauty comes in many things, learn how to define what your is.

4) Buy quality, buy once

5) Always buy natural

6) Get rid of the clutter

So many homes in are stuffed with unnecessary things. Over cluttered with paper, magazines and items that rarely see the light of day. A space needs to breathe and be enjoyed. Choose items carefully and chuck the rest. You’ll be amazed at how well you feel!

Make your wood furniture more beautiful

Revealing The Beauty:
Some will contend that the natural colors, patterns and depth of wood surfaces are beautiful in themselves and need no enhancing and further that efforts to enhance actually distract from the natural beauty of the wood. We acknowledge that wood does possess a natural beauty. However, when you look at a standing tree, you don't see any of the beauty of the wood grain within. The sawyer first of all needs to cut the wood of the tree to feature the natural patterns within. Next, a woodworker will take that rough sawn wood and form it into an item of furniture which will show the beautiful grain to fullest advantage. The raw wood however, still does not display the depth, intensity and richness of its own grain pattern. Even simply wetting wood with water will show there is more to be seen than the dry wood reveals. Water evaporates quickly and the beauty it reveals is soon hidden again. Wood finishes not only preserve wood but they create a way of displaying the beauty of the wood in a lasting way.

Framing the Beauty:
Hopefully the preceding has illustrated that presenting the beauty of the wood doesn't happen without the careful efforts of a series of craftsmen. A second concept upon which our work as furniture finishers is based is that of "framing." In painting, photography and film making our attention is focused by the artist on a specific scene by placing that scene within a frame. In a similar way, our use of color, sheen and special effects can be seen as a way of framing one's attention on the distinctive features of the wood or on the design of the item of furniture. However, sometimes the wood or the item of furniture is itself a part of the "frame." In such cases the furniture may be finished not so much to stand out on its own as to aid in the creation of a certain feeling or mood in a room. We then become part of an artistic team to create that effect and the natural beauty of the wood is a secondary concern.

HOW
At this point we will become very practical and discuss what we do to enhance the appearance of the wood furniture items that come to us for refinishing.

Basic Finishing Process:
Once an item has been stripped and any repairs have been completed, we then prepare the wood for finishing. We sand all surfaces with a medium grit of sand paper and then again with a fine grit. The medium grit removes scratches and smoothes the surface, the fine grit does more smoothing to the point the surface will stain evenly and with the right penetration. The piece is then ready to be stained.
Wood stains are formulated from pigments and dyes. Pigments are very finely ground materials that are suspended in a liquid medium to create stains. Pigments are applied to the wood and wiped to force some penetration into the wood fibers and to ensure even distribution of the pigments. As the stain dries, the liquid medium that carries the pigments evaporates and the pigments remain on the wood. Pigments must be sealed in place or they will quickly wear off. Many stain vendors will formulate pigment based stains with a small proportion of a sealing material to hold the stain in place. Dyes can come in either powder or liquid form and are again mixed into a liquid medium to carry the dye onto the wood. Dyes are fully disolved in the liquid medium and will penetrate wood fibers as deeply as the liquid will. Dyes are absorbed by the wood fibers and will permanently color the wood. Because of the deep penetration and clarity of dyes, dramatic contrasts in grain patterns are accentuated and very vibrant colors can be achieved. Stains are also created by mixing pigments and dyes to create colors and effects otherwise not attainable.
After staining all surfaces are sealed. Stained surfaces must be sealed to stabilize and protect the stain. The sealing of all surfaces, stained or not, is important to minimize the effects of atmospheric moisture. We have seen many pieces come through which have sustained damage due to having only the exterior or visible surfaces sealed. Next, the item is thoroughly sanded with a very fine grit sand paper. We are then ready to begin building up the finish coats of protective coating. Because water based finishes are between 35 and 40% solids, it takes just two to three coats of finish to properly coat an item. Once those coats have been applied, we sometimes use an ultra fine grit sand paper to remove surface nibs.

Advanced Techniques:
Those were the basics for applying a standard finish. Very often however there are other steps that need to be taken in order to complete a project which has fully enhanced the appearance of the wood and the forms created by the woodworker. These are listed and defined below:
Two toning: Using a second stain color on certain sections of the item to create interest, highlight features or to make the piece appear more uniform.
Touch up: Repaired defects or damage must sometimes be disguised by creating patterns of wood grain to match the surrounding grain. This is done with the skills and supplies of an artist.
Filling: Sometimes it is preferable to fill the pores of open pored wood such as mahogany, walnut or oak. This gives a smooth, unbroken surface.
Toning: The addition of a small amount of color to one of the finish coats can be used to make the overall appearance of the piece more uniform or can be used to create depth of color.
Shading: The addition of a slightly larger amount of a deeper color to the finish can be used to create a semi-transparent shadow effect, typically around the perimeter of a table top or at certain focal features of the piece.
Highlighting: A heavily pigmented paste material is used to wipe across highly carved or figured elements depositing the paste in the recesses to accentuate the relief.
Glazing: A slightly thinned version of the paste used to highlight can be used on flat surfaces to vary the color or the intensity of color.
In-painting: Certain styles of furniture were designed with sections painted with a contrasting color, usually black. This is often seen in furniture from the 1920s.
Distressing: Wood surfaces can be artificially aged or damaged. Sanding through finished edges, adding specks and squiggles, denting with nail tips and creating scratches are some of the techniques used to distress.
Crackle or Craze: Many older finishes will show age by crackling or crazing. This effect can be replicated with clear finishes if desired.
Polishing: Certain sheens of finish are obtained by sanding with micro grained sand paper and then by polishing with compounds and perhaps buffing with a wool pad.
Options For Surface Sheen
The final consideration in finishing is the decision as to the sheen of finish. Finish sheens are measured by the amount of light they reflect, 100 being 100% light reflection and 10 being 10% light reflection. Gloss finishes are typically in the 80-90% range, Semi-Gloss finishes are above 50%, Satin finishes are below 50%, flat or matte are down below 25%, dead flat finishes are below 10%. Lower sheen finishes are made by mixing additives to the finish which reduce the ability of light to pass through the finish. One concern people commonly have about lower sheen finishes is their durability and cleanability. Unlike some house paints, there is no reduction in either durability or cleanability with lower sheen water based wood finishes.
Finishes Change Over Time:
People refinishing older furniture will often ask for a satin finish, thinking a satin finish would most accurately represent the finish originally on a piece. The reality is that all surface coated finishes tend to move toward the middle of the scale of reflectivity over time. Shellac finishes are very glossy by nature. Old varnishes were not quite as glossy as shellac but were also fairly glossy. As these naturally shiny finishes wear, fine scuffs and scratches break up the reflectivity of light and the sheen lowers. Also, one impact of ultra violet light is to create microscopic crazing within the finish which also impedes light transfer. Oxidation will cause chemical changes which darken the finish and also lower sheen. On the other hand, the additives which lower the sheen of finishes tend to accumulate at the top of the finish layer. The natural scuffing that comes with use will reveal the shiner material underneath the flatting additive and the finish will begin to appear more glossy. Consequently, all surface coated finishes over time will tend toward a more satiny appearance. In contrast to surface coated finishes, oiled finishes start out medium to low in sheen and become lower with wear.

Protect wood furniture

Wood Deteriorates:
We are generally aware that in woods and forests, fallen trees will decompose. Insects, birds and animals, as well as fungi, algae and bacteria, all participate in that process. Two silent partners in the process of decomposition are moisture and sunlight. Either too much water or too little water will weaken wood. Even in a protected household environment, prolonged exposure to high moisture content air, such as damp, misty, winter days or sticky, humid, summer days will help along the process of decay. Extremely dry air will cause shrinkage and cracking. Further, rapid changes from hot to cold, from damp to dry, create stresses which will, over time, weaken wood. Ultra violet light from the sun will damage wood by breaking down the cellular structure of the outer layers of the wood. In our homes the process of decay is usually very slow, even with unprotected wood. However, warping, twisting, shrinking, cracking and and even fading are all evidence that the process is taking place.
Wood Needs Protection:
Furniture has been described as functional art. It needs to be useful but we want it also to be beautiful and we further expect it to be durable. In order to preserve our investment in pieces of functional art, we need to protect them from whatever will cause them not to be durable. Most fundamentally, this means we need to protect them from extremes of moisture, rapid changes in moisture and from the harmful effects of sunlight. Hence the craft of furniture finishing.
Two Ways To Protect:
Finishing materials used to protect wood from extremes of moisture fall into two categories, finishes which penetrate the wood and finishes which form a coating over the wood. Oils such as tung and linseed have been used as penetrating finishes.Waxes and various natural resinous materials have been used to form coatings over the wood. Finishes which protect wood from sunlight have almost always included the introduction of earth pigments along with an oil or resin. With the addition of enough pigment, the finish becomes what we call paint.
Protection And Beautification:
Preserving wood is an important function of furniture finishes, but since furniture is functional art, creating something which pleases the eye is another demand placed upon furniture finishes. Most often this is done by choosing a finish which will accentuate the natural beauty of the wood. Penetrating finishes do the most to display the natural features of the wood to greatest advantage. However, penetrating finishes are not as durable or as resistant to damage as are finish coatings. External finish coatings also have the advantage of versatility in creating special effects to further intensify the aesthetic appeal of the functional art. Due to concerns regarding the health of the workers who apply these coatings and concerns regarding the purity of our common environment, many of the finishes used historically are no longer legal to apply without a special permit.

How to protect outdoor wood furniture

You can keep your outdoor wooden furniture safe and prolong its life by following ways:
1)Wet a sponge in soapy water. Completely clean your wood outdoor furniture of dirt, tree sap and other grime that has built up. Rinse the furniture well with a garden hose and let it air dry. Pollution, bird droppings, tree sap and other substances will stain patio furniture if they aren't cleaned off.
2)Spread a waterproofing wax or gel over the furniture using clean cloths. Make sure the wood is fully dry first and that the waterproofing formula is specifically made for wood. For most products, apply the waterproofing formula to a cloth first and then rub it into the wood one section at a time. (Wear gloves for this process.)
3)Use patio furniture covers over wood furniture during rainy weather. Even after you have waterproofed the furniture, this is an important step for protecting the wood from excess moisture. Furniture covers come in several different sizes and are very easy to use.
4)Keep the furniture covered and store it in a garage or shed at the end of the season. If you are able to store it inside your home, this may be even better since a home is climate controlled. (Storing patio furniture indoors is especially important if you live in a region with harsh winters.) If you do not have room in your home to store the furniture, a garage or shed is the next best thing. These will at least protect the furniture from driving winds and rain, sleet and snow.

Other tips:

a)Check screws and other furniture hardware occasionally. Some may loosen or even need to be replaced.
b)Do not allow children to jump or play on wood patio furniture. It is dangerous both for the furniture and the children.
c)Avoid storing wood furniture in damp rooms, such as basements. Mildew may develop on the wood.

Gangnam style

Gangnam Style (강남 스타일) is a 2012 dance pop single written and performed by Korean pop singer Park Jae Sung, better known by his stage name PSY. Since the release of the song and its highly entertaining music video in mid-July 2012, the video has gained more than 8 million views in the span of two weeks and spawned numerous parodies and copycat dance videos on YouTube.

The song “Gangnam Style” was written and recorded as the title single of the sixth studio album PSY 6 (Six Rules), Part 1 by Korean singer PSY, who is best known for his quick-witted sense of humor and comical dance moves. The song was released on July 15th, 2012, along with the music video which made its online debut via PSY’s official YouTube channel on the same day.The song talks about "the perfect girlfriend who knows when to be refined and when to get wild."

Upon its release, the song took off on virtually all Korean billboard charts, portal search sites and online music stores, but it began garnering international attention after the music video went viral on YouTube during the third week of July 2012. The video continued gained viral momentum at an average rate of more than 9 million views per day in the span of two months, surpassing Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” to reach the number one position on the YouTube Top 100 Music Videos chart during the last week of August. By mid-September, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” overtook LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” as the most liked video on the site with more than 1.6 million likes.

The mass appeal of the music video has been attributed to its signature dance move known as “the horse-riding dance,” which combines the stylistic elements of shuffle dancing and hand movements resembling the posture of a horseback rider.

During its onset, speculations arose in the Korean internet communities that the dance may have been pioneered a year earlier by a Korean pop group Girls’ Day in their 2011 debut single Tilting Head. However, PSY later revealed in interviews that he came up with the dance during a talent contest at a post-concert event in August 2011.
People who are actually from Gangnam never proclaim that they are—it's only the posers and wannabes that put on these airs and say that they are "Gangnam Style" — so this song is actually poking fun at those kinds of people who are trying so hard to be something that they're not.   -PSY

Facebook

Facebook is a social networking service launched in February 2004.
It is owned and operated by Facebook, Inc.
As of September 2012, Facebook has over one billion active users, more than half of them using Facebook on a mobile device.
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students, and eventually to anyone aged 13 and over.
A January 2009 Compete.com study ranked Facebook as the most used social networking service by worldwide monthly active users. In September 2012, Zuckerberg speaking about the drop in his company's market value, described the decline as "disappointing" - the value of Facebook being almost half the $38 debut price in May 2012.
The name of the service stems from the colloquial name for the book given to students at the start of the academic year by some university administrations in the United States to help students get to know each other. Facebook allows any users who declare themselves to be at least 13 years old to become registered users of the site.
Zuckerberg was born in 1984 in White Plains, New York

Felix Baumgartner

Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner has become the first person to go faster than the speed of sound, reaching a maximum velocity of 833.9mph (1,342km/h).
He jumped out of a balloon 128,100ft (24 miles; 39km) above New Mexico, the 43-year-old also smashed the record for the highest ever freefall.
It took just under 10 minutes for him to descend. Only the last few thousand feet were negotiated by parachute.
"Let me tell you - when I was standing there on top of the world, you become so humble. You don't think about breaking records anymore, you don't think about gaining scientific data - the only thing that you want is to come back alive," he said afterwards at a media conference.
None of the new marks set by Baumgartner can be classed as "official" until endorsed by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI).
Its representative was the first to greet the skydiver on the ground. GPS data recorded on to a microcard in the Austrian's chest pack will form the basis for the height and speed claims that are made.
