Herman melville : Moby-Dick

oogle on 18th Oct is celebrating the 161st anniversary of the publication of the novel Moby-Dick or The Whale written by an american novelist Herman Melville who was also a poet, essayist and short story writer. Novel was published on October 18, 1851.
The classic novel Moby Dick, classified as American romanticism, is a symbolic allegory with exemplary commentary on human destiny and universe.
Each character in the novel has symbolic significance. And the plot of the novel revolves around the protagonist Ishmael, an enagmatic character, and his adventure filled voyages on the whaleship Pequod that was under the command of Captain Ahab.
Today's Google doodle depicts the white sperm whale and portraits Captain Ahab, along with his crew, in a whaling boat holding a harpoon in his hands ready to attack the white sperm whale.
The white whale is seen swimming in the sea close to the whaleship and pumping out water. The pumped out water forms the letter 'L' of the Google logo.
Moby-Dick was first published by Richard Bentley in London on October 18, 1851, titled The Whale.
